iPad USBC and Digirig VOX cable

I have had great luck with my Digirig VOX cable and Radiomail on my older Lightning iPad and iPhone. Now I have newer iPad and USB C port. I am using a quality Apple USB C to headphone adapter to connect to the VOX cable and radio. I am having issues with volume controls for both PTT and input level. On the input level I cannot get into the green even at full volume on the radio, both Baifeng and Yaesu. Previously I reached green level at only 25% of full volume. On the output to PTT the iPad will not hold a high output once I set it at the level to trigger PTT in the setup section of Radiomail. I have checked to make sure iPad settings have the loud noise ear protection off.
Any tips?

I am wondering if the Digirig VOX is only suitable for Lightning connections and I need the Lite or other method with iPad with USB C?

Digirig VOX cable is still labelled as “experimental”. Because it only uses passive circuitry, PTT activation can be hit or miss.

If you have USB-C available, the Digirig lite is a much better option.

I did not have a PTT trigger issue, but the iPad would not produce adequate sound levels on both TX and RX. With the radio on full volume I did not get enough sound on the test to get into the green part of the bar (same radio works fine on older lighting connection and the VOX cable) and the iPad would not hold the output volume (speaker volume setting) when connected to the VOX cable. I would turn it up and then when I did test ping it would drift back down. Trying out the Digirig Lite.
