varanny is a lightweight service wrapper for the VARA software modem, designed to simplify headless and remote amateur radio operations. It enables automatic service discovery over the network using DNS-SD, allowing clients like RadioMail to locate and connect to VARA instances without manual configuration. varanny also manages the starting and stopping of VARA and optional rig control agents, handles multiple modem profiles by swapping .ini config files, and ensures reliable operation in environments like Wine where VARA may not rebind to ports correctly. It turns VARA into a more flexible, network-friendly service.
