After nearly two years, B.B. Link will be discontinued once the current inventory sells out.
When B.B. Link launched, iPhone-friendly options for using the built-in packet TNC on radios like the Kenwood TH-D74 and TH-D75 were limited. It filled a gap and enabled apps such as RadioMail, Packet Commander, and Radio Messenger to communicate directly with those radios.
Since then, the landscape has changed. Affordable audio interfaces such as the Digirig Lite and AIOC are now widely available, and newer radios like the UV-PRO and VG-N76 expose their TNCs directly over BLE.
B.B. Link was always a small, handcrafted project. What started as a personal solution grew far beyond my expectations, and I am grateful for the support from the amateur radio community.
That said, managing hardware production, assembly, testing, fulfillment, and support takes significant time away from software development. I’d rather spend that time building and improving applications for the community.
If you’ve been thinking about getting a B.B. Link, or want a spare, now is the time. Once the current batch is gone, there are no plans for additional production.
For those interested in DIY projects, the B.B. Link firmware will remain open source. The B.B. Link Configurator app will also remain available on the App Store and is open source as well.
Mahalo to everyone who supported this journey.
