Hi

No issues sending via Telnet to gmail accounts and receiving email from a gmail account

I was able to connect to the Icom 705

The WLAN is ON then connect iPad to Icom705 wifi portal and in remote user add your credentials

So CAT or in this case CI-v works with the mode and freq changing no problem

I have not connected to any packet 1200 nodes and i dont know if its poor location on my part and 5 watts or something else

It keys the radio up for a 1/2 second

I will not connect to another PC to VARA as I want a simple winlink app like this on an ipad

I will try HF when I can get connected to a HF antenna

Right now I just had a nightmare of a hip replacement and still struggling withmobility issues and knee deraignment and nerve issues.

I tried to crash it with weird swipes but so ok

A long garbage character email was ok

Cant seem to send pics even if 99k via telent

i understand the VARA license bit but will see if HF ardop works

Thanks for the report and hope you get better.

VARA is an undisclosed, proprietary protocol available only as a Windows application. To use it, you need a separate computer running VARA connected to your radio. As a result, VARA can’t provide a truly portable setup using just your phone and radio, as you can with packet or ARDOP.

George, I understand the VARA docking which to me just adds another layer of complexity to my use case

Arrive at park or undisclosed secret bunker location and send status messages quickly and simply with a tablet or smartphone

Radio Mail 2.0 does this

The only limitation is I am using packet or ARDOP where VARA has increased adoption which lack of connectivity to a gateway is a risk

I dont have VARA because I dont want to bring a laptop to the field
