ICS-213 Error When Sending over RF, Goes Out via Telnet

Greetings,

having a similar issues as in a previous post when trying send a Winkink Email with ands ICS-213 via RF. It goes out fine via Telnet.

I’m using forms version 1.1.15.0 and getting a similar error when trying to send the ICS-213.

Tried the update and says it’s current and have the most recent version of the Radiomail app. 1.5.0 (1)

I’m on and iPhone 13 Pro Max and iOS 18.6.2

Radio is a Radioddity GA-5WB connected via blue tooth Winkink email messages go out fine via RF with the setup and just a plain message. They just don’t send with the ICS-213. I haven’t tried with other ICS firms yet.

Any ideas?

Ron

Well, here’s an update. I finally got my BB Link and connected it as directed with my iPhone and TH-D75.

The D75 works like a champ and has no issues sending the ICS-213 form.

looking forward to taking this setup on my trip to the the Big Island of Hawai’i. Now I can see which gates and RMS gateways I can hit on the island. I specially when we are up high in Volcano National Park.

Thanks for the update, Ron. In my experience, the built-in TNC in the D75 does tend to perform better. Sometimes TNCs are primarly used for APRS, which is much more forgiving of short burst-style packets. With Winlink-type payloads, buffer management becomes more demanding, and some modems struggle to keep up.

Glad your gear arrived in time for the Big Island trip. Keep an eye on the volcano, it actually just took out one of the USGS cameras.

Well, I guess we may have something to see while we are there. Guess we will have to wait and see what the volcano is up to when we get there. Hopefully nothing too big to stop or delay the trip. Never been to that island so not too sure what to expect. My daughter and I both love science so hoping it doesn’t get in the way of learning and seeing and “active” volcano.

Aloha. I am having the exact same problem here—can’t send message with ICS-213 attached via local RMS gateway:

*** Sending message MNSGMNBVGAZD
*** Error: Error check failed on receiving B2 message. [Received data stream not a correct format] - Disconnecting (166.198.95.17)

The same message did succeed via telnet to CMS. I noticed this issue has come up a few times here, is there anything that can be done or are forms via UV-PRO TNC just a lost cause?

Mahalo,

Craig

Try reducing the Max length and Max outstanding parameters in the Packet KISS TNC Modem settings.
