QMX with AFSK mode?

Hey all!

Trying to figure out if I can remove my laptop from my radio bag, and the recent AFSK update might just be able to help.

I have an iPhone 13, which means I only have a lightning port. I plan to use a usb camera cable to connect to my QMX via the built in sound card, and then use the VOX setting on my radio to transmit. However from my reading of the blog post the AFSK mode also transmits a “side tone” that the digirig can understand.

Is there a way to disable that tone so I can just use vox? Current understanding is it would, but not too sure.
Also willing to buy and test! Software like this is totally worth supporting.

Jeff, are you talking about this QMX https://qrp-labs.com/qmx.html ?

The current built-in AFSK modem is meant for VHF/UHF 1200 bauds operation. It will not help you on HF.

Yes sorry I should have dropped a link to the actual radio.

Didn't realize the AFSK would only help for VHF/UHF. Still super cool but not exactly what I'm looking for.

Any chance there is/will be a setting that could help me on HF?

Thanks!

For now, the main option for HF is done via VARA HF, which require a separate computer.

There is a beta version in testing that's supporting Robust Packet, via the LiNK500 device https://diy599.net/products/link500

ARDOP is under consideration as a HF mode to be supported with an internal modem in the future.

Love the idea of ARDOP being used, especially if it means I don’t have to carry an extra device in the field with me. Wouldn’t love to hear how I can cast my dipper for that haha!

In the meantime I can setup Vara on a spare laptop and try that route. At least that should get me if the ground
