Re-discovering Varanny modems

Aloha George,

I’m running RadioMail + Varanny + VARA HF/FM through their paces this weekend.

One odd thing I see is that I have to continuously re-discover my Varanny controlled modems. I make an FM connection and it works great. Then I make an HF connection.

But, when I try to connect again — same RadioMail AND Varanny session, BTW — I have to discover the modems again or else I get “Finding device [name]”…”Connection timed out.” errors.

If I then discover the modems again, they work fine, once.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there something I need to do to persist the modems in RadioMail?

Thanks.

Data point++

I opened RadioMail, discovered my modem, and connected to my local VHF FM RMS gateway. Worked fine.

While the connection window was open, I pressed Connect again. Worked fine again.

Repeated 1 more time, just fine.

On the 4th Connect, it failed to find my modem and timed out. NO other interactions on either the RadioMail or Linux (Varanny) end.

I had thought it was when I switched between modems, but even staying with the same modem multiple times had the same result.

(Varanny is current, pulled down from github and compiled here. RadioMail is up to date also. iPhone is a 13, also up to date with OS.)

Cheers,
