RIGCTL mode changing

Things seem to be working okay, except it changes the mode to DIGI vs USB, which is what I need on the QMX. Is there a workaround for this? Possibly in Varanny? Thank you for an awesome program!

Yes, if you’re using VARA HF and have CAT control enabled via hamlib, RadioMail will try to set the frequency and mode when you connect.

The mode it’s setting is PKTUSB, which is generally appropriate for digital operations, but some rigs like the QMX may interpret that differently or have their own quirks.

You have two options:

  1. Adjust how hamlib translates the PKTUSB mode command for your rig. This can sometimes be done with a custom rig definition or by tweaking settings in rigctld.

  2. If you prefer to manage the mode manually, you can disable mode setting in RadioMail. Go to iOS Settings > RadioMail and toggle Ignore Set Rig Mode to ON.

THANK YOU!!! Did not think of looking there! This is freakin’ brilliant!
Side note, just discovered this script (Raspberry Connect - Automated Switching - Access Point or WiFi Network)
It creates an AP if there isn’t a recognized SSID nearby. Finally it all comes together! SOTA + Winlink in less that 3 lbs…ish.
