Two BBLinks two TH-D74 Radios failure

I have not checked Winlink mail with packet for a couple of months and decided to test the BBlink before I leave on Wednesday. I also updated the app. Before the test, I rand APRSDorid on an old Samsung tablet to see the new version that was released. That worked flawlessly, was easy to connect, and beaconed. I turned off the tablet, grabbed my BBLink, and tried to make a Winlink connection, but it failed to connect after several tries. Since I have a second radio and BBlink, the same thing happened. The only thing that I think changed was the app was updated.

Any idea on how to get this working? I hope to use it on my trip leaving Wednesday if possible.

You can confirm your setup is working by listening on another radio and verify that you hear some data being transmitted.

If that works, most likely the station you're trying to connect is out of reach or temporarily off the air.

Hello Georges,

I am sorry I had problems but here is what I noticed the iPhone 14 always saw both of the BBLinks. Or at least Radio mail said it saw the BBLink. Neither radio acquired the bluetooth connection to the BBLink. I spent lots of time one the first one trying to get it to work. I tried to connect the D74 to the BBlink and it would not connect. I then pulled my second radio out and it did the exact same thing. I had both radios on the packet frequency in kiss 12 mode. I know radio mail can put the right frequency on the radio and mode but the bluetooth connection was never made to the radios. One of the radios was tested with APRSDROID and it worked as expected. I have no test equipment to test bluetooth and see the protocols so I am stuck.

Note never was more than one radio on and one BBLink connected to an apple USBC plug.
I do not think it’s a packet problem but a connection problem but. I am not sure.
I will be happy to test anything to work out what I can do to get this working.

Each B.B. Link adapter pairs with a single radio. When you power the adapter, it will automatically reconnect via bluetooth to the previously paired radio. You should notice a bluetooth icon turning on on the radio. If this is not happening, you should check your bluetooth configuration on the radio or try repairing the adapter using the configurator app.

Each radio has their own BBlink and yes I may have used on for the other radio during testing. I do know the first radio was its BBLink that was always with it. Please let me know now to repair the BBlink with the configurator app. Is this part of radio mail?

Thank you for your help.

Tim

Use the B.B. Link Configurator app that you downloaded initially to setup your adapter. There is a reset adapter function there so you can start the pairing process again.

Please download and consult the [manual](https://go.islandmagic.co/docs/B.B.%20Link%20Operator%20Manual.pdf) if not already.

Georges,

Thank you when you are in the weeds you forget a few thinks. Yes I have app and manual.

Thank you so much and I will get both working. Or get two more.

Tim.

The first BBlink and D74 worked after running the configuration app. I could check the Winlink packet email with no issues. Then it turned off that radio and BBlink and went to the second one. I updated the firmware and re-paired the radio. All looked good, but it would not connect to the digipeater. Turning off everything and waiting for the BBLink to cool I tried again and it failed. I then looked deeper into the radio and I noticed the B band was in LSB, not FM. I remembered listening to HF on this radio and changed the B Band to FM and tested again. It worked. Make sure if you use B Band for APRS and HF listening put it back into FM before you try and get your winlink email.
